The problem with listening to scholars, is that there are so many and are so contradictory and they all give a "flat" Jesus. I haven't found a scholar who is better at explaining the gospels than a person just sitting down and reading them for themselves.

I love Jesus of Montreal, but he could still be seen as a "fake" Jesus. Certainly he was just an actor playing Jesus, not really Jesus. (Of course, they are all actors playing Jesus, but he is an actor playing an actor... you know what I mean). My recommendation is that it be a "real" Jesus in his original context that is a real human being-- a radical one, but still very human. I think it can be done.

Totoro from the Filmspotting Forum says that he sees The Gospel According to St. Matthew as being this kind of film, and I really don't. I think Jesus of Montreal comes much closer, but still not Jesus-y enough.Steve Kimeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14187112520269562190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-318433114559203724.post-44573345254836008172011-12-08T14:31:26.350-08:002011-12-08T14:31:26.350-08:00I'm not sure of what you mean by making Jesus ...I'm not sure of what you mean by making Jesus historical? At the same time you encourage making your own interpretation? And I think you liked Montreal Jesus? I'm a little puzzled.
But basically I agree with most of what you say here.Jessicahttp://www.thevelvetcafe.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
